To walk in the footsteps of Jesus, is to give oneself entirely to Him, and in every circumstance, both in moments of joy and of suffering. Eugénie, very aware of this, sees the gift of herself as a response to emergency and a crisis: that of saving souls’’, Cf. Un siècle de mission au féminin, page 29, in particular those who have not yet heard of Jesus. From her personal experience of self-giving, Eugénie writes to Catherine Frentz on 7th January 1927:
‘‘The work of God needs solid foundations, reinforced concrete that is a matter of course, God asks you to be this concrete which is used to reinforce the foundation.
You will have to cement it with the blood of your heart. Believe me, you must not keep even only one drop for yourself; give all to the Divine Architect who wants to need it.
Let yourself be pulled to pieces, provides that He is pleased. Snuggle up to Jesus’ Heart, say to Him: Jesus, may everything be done as you want, I am yours, do with me as you want, I will smile event through my tears’’.
Prayer: Through the intercession of Sister Eugénie Caps, grant us Lord to know how to give ourselves fully and zealously, in all the responsibilities entrusted to us, however small.
