The charisms
About the gifts and charisms, the Apostle Paul reminds us that “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit gives them. There are different ways of serving, but the same Lord is served. There are different abilities to perform service, but the same God gives ability to all for their particular service. The Spirit’s presence is shown in some way in each person for the good of all”. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7.
Pope Francis tells us the role of charisms and how to recognize them.
“A charism is a grace, a gift bestowed by God the Father, through the action of the Holy Spirit. And it is a gift which is given to someone not because he is better than others or because he deserves it, it is a gift that God gives him. God gives this quality, this charism to this person, not for himself, but in order that he may put it at the service of the whole community.
For example, today, before arriving in the Square, I received many disabled children in the Paul VI Hall. There were so many of them belonging to an association that is dedicated to caring for these children. This association, these people, these men and these women, have a charism to care for disabled children. This is a charism!
No one can say, I have this charism. It is within the community that the gifts the Father showers upon us bloom and flourish. And it is in the bosom of the community that one learns to recognize them as a sign of his love for all his children”.
With Sister Eugénie, let us pray that the Lord will help us to discern the Charisms that he gives birth to within our Communities, so that we can put them at the service of all.
“Holy Spirit, Spirit of the living and eternal God enlighten us. Come with your Holy lights into our souls. We implore you from the depth of our hearts, give us the lights to do the most Holy will of God”. According to the prayers of Sister Eugénie Caps.
